Michael Harman received his 4-year training in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine, San Diego, where he attained a Master’s Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine (MTOM). He is certified by the National Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is Licensed in California, and Colorado. Michael also has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego.
Michael moved to New York in 2000 to work in a multidisciplinary clinic. In 2 years, he treated over 800 patients, many of who had neck, back, and extremity sprain/strain injuries due to trauma from automobile accidents. He also treated various other conditions such as sciatica, post-operation pain, stress, insomnia, headaches, anxiety, hypertension, depression, and other emotional problems, weight control, indigestion, sinusitis, allergies, and women’s health, etc. Michael is also very interested in the treatment of lower extremity conditions. Since 1998, he has been traveling around the country as one of the best shoe / hiking boot fitters in the industry, teaching retail employees, dealers, representatives, and medical professionals about biomechanics, orthoses, modification, and other more professional fit techniques to provide better comfort and health. In his free time, Michael enjoys mountain biking, snow skiing, backpacking, and other outdoors activities, as well as swing (Lindy Hop) dancing. In 2006, Michael was honorably granted privileges at Craig Hospital to treat spinal cord injury patients, as well as to be involved in their current NIH study.
